Sculpted from small bricks carved from the same cinderblock on which they are displayed, the shoes in Kick some ass barefoot tonight articulate a series of contradictions. While the shoes refer to movement and progress, both physical and in fashions, their material, however, weighs them down. The images of women on all fours taken from erotic magazines are equally subjugated into immobility. Through this play of materials and images Kick some ass barefoot tonight, takes a belligerent posture to how the media and the built environment, even history, is dominated by men.
