Islet Islet Islet

Within a bleached-white space a hollow tree trunk rests upon a pile of pink sand. Vibrant pastoral scenes stitched within the hollow tree recall a paradise lost.

The installation, Islet, presents a sterile, pallor interior space, where a scene of desolation is played out. A fallen tree form and several scattered branches appear bleached by time and circumstance. A pile of pink sand, perhaps once fertile ground is dry and barren. Only hidden away inside the trunk’s hollowed-out body is a trace of life and prosperity found, echoing a bygone ideal of paradise.
